Identity Verification Changes - Effective 18 November 2025


As you may know, several important changes will come into effect on 18 November 2025 under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act (ECCT). We'd like to provide a brief overview of how these updates will affect your use of The Company Wizard services.

New Identity Verification Requirements


From 18 November, all new company directors and People with Significant Control (PSCs) will be required to verify their identity with the UK Government before they can be appointed to a new or existing limited company.

Existing directors and PSCs will need to verify their identity when filing their annual Confirmation Statement.

Where identity verification may be more complex, The Company Wizard will offer a comprehensive identity validation service authorised by the Government. A separate fee will apply for this service (details to be confirmed).

How Will It Work?


The company formation process will remain largely the same. However, when entering details for a company Director or PSC, you'll soon be asked to provide an 11-character personal verification code.

New Companies House Code

This code replaces the previous three security questions (e.g. mother's maiden name, town of birth, and eye colour).

You can obtain your personal verification code by completing the process through the Government's new Identity Verification Portal. There is no charge for this service.

If you dont have your code when completing your company incorporation forms, don't worry, you can still proceed. Once your order is submitted, we'll email you a link to a secure portal where you can enter your codes later.

For your convenience, The Company Wizard will securely store your verification codes for easy access when adding directors and PSCs in the future.
