Upcoming ECCT Changes at Companies House - What You Need to Know
As part of the UK Governments continued efforts to improve corporate transparency and tackle economic crime, significant changes are coming to company incorporations and filings from Autumn 2025, under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act (ECCT). These changes will impact how company officers and people with significant control (PSCs) are verified. Heres what you need to know and how we can support you through these changes.
1. Mandatory Identity Verification for Directors, PSCs, and Members
From Autumn, all individuals involved in a companys formation or ongoing management must undergo identity verification before any application can be submitted to Companies House. This includes:
- Company directors
- People with significant control (PSCs)
- LLP members
This verification step is a legal requirement and must be completed before:
- Incorporating a new company or LLP
- Appointing a new director, PSC, or member
2. How Verification Will Work via Gov.uk
You will be able to verify your identity directly through the Gov.uk portal, using a secure government service. Once verified, you will receive a personal verification code.
This code can then be used to confirm your identity when:
- Registering a new company
- Appointing new directors, PSCs, or members
- Making other filings with Companies House that involve individuals
3. Storing and Reusing Verification Codes with Company Wizard
To streamline your experience, Company Wizard will support the storage and reuse of your Gov.uk personal verification code for any future incorporations or filings made through our platform.
This means:
- You wont need to re-verify each time you use our service
- You can easily appoint verified individuals by selecting their stored verification profile
- Your filings will be faster and fully compliant
4. Our Role as an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP)
